Cute little wooden tooth fairy boxes measuring approx 4cm across and 3cm tall. They have pull off lids and have a pyrographed (burnt) tooth on the top along with “Tooth Fairy Box” and one name added free
They are just the right size for little hands and the perfect size to place under the pillow. What does the tooth fairy pay per tooth nowadays? When I was little it was the princely sum of sixpence!
The Tooth Fairy dates back to around 1908 when it was first mentioned in literature. It was originally thought to help the child get over the shock of losing their first tooth as to a little one, this could be quite frightening. As time went on, parents encouraged children to clean their teeth properly as a decayed tooth was not as valuable as a perfect tooth. There are various stories as to what the fairies did with all those teeth. Did they make them into necklaces or maybe they used them to build their little houses? It is an endearing folklore tale that all children love although the thought of some money may have something to do with it!
